    A base load power plant is a power plant are reliable power plant that continuously generate electricity throughout the year to supply minimum amount of power requirement. Load connected to the base load power plant always remains constant i.e this power plant is not designed to supply varying demand and in emergencies. It turns off only during the maintenance and upgrading. 

    The advantages of base load power plant is that they are cost effective and reliable at maximum load. The disadvantages of base load power plant is that they have slow response time and low efficiency if operating below it's maximum capacity. Hydro-power plant, nuclear power plant, coal-fired power plant, geothermal power plant and tidal power plant e.t.c. are some examples of base load power plant.
